We are, yet many fail to see, that the gospel is to mold us, our life into the image of his kingdom. God’s kingdom is eternal, so all things that pertain to eternal life is to become ours, which is in that same image. Eternal law is imperative to live there, this cannot be ignored and we must therefore learn how to live eternal law, as God’s eternal law, which is God’s spiritual law, is what makes God what he is. This eternal law cannot do the same for us until we freely choose to mold ourselves to it and live it also.

How does this work in us?

Eternal law is what establishes order and righteousness in us. We cannot be righteous without the spiritual principles & laws of God, it is impossible. We cannot and must not create our own versions of God’s laws or principles and expect that to make us right, because it will not. Anything made by men (mortal human being) is automatically corrupt and lacking, it can never replace the laws and principles of God. To freely choose God’s spiritual laws and way of life is to forsake that which is of this earth and to abide & endure in the process that God embues into our lives.

Personal righteousness must abide in and live by God’s eternal laws and principles, else it cannot be righteous. Anything made by men, which they call as right, is relative, which is always subject to change. God’s laws are never relative, never change, they are absolute.

Therefore, to be in the image of God requires we become righteous, to live and become the very eternal laws and eternal principles that are never changing.

This, of course, is a process, but the process you now know must occurr in order to live with God.

Yesterday, as I finished paying for some groceries at the cash till, another lady behind me went next. The lady asked for some cigarettes and the cash till clerk asked the lady for some identification, since she looked young. As the lady was getting her identification to prove her age, the cash till clerk stated in a guilty type of tone as she tried to excuse herself, saying, “Sorry, but I have to cover my butt“.

This struck me as very interesting and odd.

In Canada, it is law in most of the provinces that a person must be 19 years of age to purchase cigarettes and all merchants are under law to confirm that age by proper identification or risk a hefty fine. The purpose of this law is to reduce the use of tobacco by younger persons. Since it is law, where is the reason to be guilty or feel bad to ask another for proper identification when the there is legal right and authority to do so?

SustainingHave you had trouble sustaining local church leaders or even anyone of the leaders in the General Authorities of the Church? Some things you dislike or disagree with that held you back from raising your right arm to signify that you sustain them? This kind of issue in our membership is more common than you may think. It was such an issue that concerned the leadership of the Church, they spoke on the matter by making it part of our study books, “Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Joseph F. Smith – Sustaining Those Who Are Called to Preside“. The issue of sustaining those who we disagree with can be quite a challenge, because our personal feelings about the person can be so strong that it disallows us to raise our right hands during the sustaining call and to some, this becomes a problem in their interactions with that person during Church services and classes.

In that study book I listed just above a statement was made that I agree with, it said,

It is a serious wrong in the presence of the Almighty for one to vote to sustain the authorities of the Church and then to go away and oppose them and trample under foot the counsels that they give; and we will be judged of the Lord for it.

In short, this would be called hypocrisy, to claim we sustain them and then oppose them at every turn. I understand that we have the freedom to disagree and have our own viewpoints on matters, maybe even view doctrine a bit differently, but to be hypocritical is a sorry state to be in as it negatively affects personal state of righteousness and worthiness. If there is something about the person that is seriously wrong that the other leaders have overlooked or did not know about, then speak to your Bishop. If the matter is serious enough (means beyond differences of opinion and beyond personal affronts) and the Bishop does nothing or little, go to the Stake President, but this article is not about serious errors, this article addresses those who, at a personal level, feel adverse toward leadership and have trouble sustaining them.

How many of you tried to make peace with evil persons, or wicked ones? Did you find that there was no peace with them or what peace that seemed to exist, was tenuous at best and very fragile? Ever wonder why there was no real peace?

Christ had said, as read in the scriptures, that he did not come to this earth to make peace, but instead he brought the sword. (Matthew 10:34 – KJV – this scripture is the same in the JST -Joseph Smith Translation).

What application do the words of Christ have to our real life situations where peace between you and others is very diffucult or impossible?

LDS Hero - World War II?

In the past while, I came to have an interest to research some of this Church’s history in Germany during World War II, under the Nazi rule of Hitler. This is because a comment was made to me that the members of the Church in Germany were obedient to the government of that time, a comment made in an attempt to illustrate the “order of the Church”.

This comment struck an interest in me to find out as much as I can, the state of affairs in Nazi Germany, to see if any dilemma existed between obedience to the local government and laws and the doctrines of God. I found a good example.

I had wondered why there are other Christian’s that go around claiming they succeeded in casting out demons or protected others from demon attacks. I wondered how these other Christians, who are not of the Lord’s Church and do not have the Holy Priesthood, can succeed, to any degree, in these efforts? It did not take long for me to see and realize the answer. It is a simple answer and it is how and why Satan does not completely control this world.

The answer is “right” (versus wrong) and free will and choice.

I was going to speak a little on tattoos and what they reflect as to the spiritual state of the world, but recent events now brings me to speak on this topic of “Catering to Beliefs”.

I have seen many people from the Church on the Internet make such an effort to interact with others who are nonmembers. In their efforts, they try to be understanding to “opinions” and make the effort to avoid contention with other contrasting beliefs. These efforts have gone as far as appeasing others who have been contentious or degrading against other Latter-day Saints members.
