Cannot Love SinThis easily happens in the world, where sinful behaviour and acts are justified. Acts as lying, sometimes called “white lies”, deceitfulness justified by the word “crafty”, manipulation justified in the idea of “it was just business, not personal”, or any other sin that man in the world commits and the millions of rationalizations the world attaches to it. These are the obvious justifications of sin, the evil of the world and of the flesh. Why then am I speaking about something that appears to be obvious to even the world? It is because I am using their bad example to show the practice of justifying sin in the name of Christian-hood.

Have I caught your interest?

I have seen this all too often, where justification of wickedness, sin or wrong is done in the name of “good will” toward others. Even using the examples of Jesus Christ to justify this idle philosophy. I use the word “idle” because it is a choice and act that forsakes righteousness and in the absence of righteousness, there is no Christianity as Jesus taught it and showed example by it.

Margaret Toscano at PBS
I am sure that many know about Margaret Toscano. A lady that was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Due to her position on free speech and her enthusiasm toward women’s issues as a scholar and within the Church, Margaret Toscano faced excommunication in the year of 2000.

I wanted to read more about her thoughts and beliefs to determine for myself where she stands, in a spiritual sense, so I searched the Internet for reputable articles of what Margaret says and believes. I found a good one at the PBS website where a transcript of a PBS interview exists. After reading that transcript I could write pages about what she has said, but I needed to focus on one important topic for this blog entry.

When reading the words spoken by others about this Church and about their experience with this Church, I search for the spiritual validity of what they say and how much in line they are with gospel teachings and principles. I did the same with what Margaret said in that PBS interview.

With the increase of evil in the world, it is very true that false spirits are roaming the earth to every place possible. If some have noticed, there seems to be an increase of negative or evil spiritual events and since these last days are going to get darker, it is reasonable to expect some increase of visitations by ill, false and evil spirits as well.

Being a Latter-day Saint is not a guarantee that we will not suffer evil spirits in our lives, but as a Latter-day Saint, we have something that other Christians do not have, that is the priesthood. With this power and authority, it becomes important to ensure your place of residence is safe from evil influences.

How many of you tried to make peace with evil persons, or wicked ones? Did you find that there was no peace with them or what peace that seemed to exist, was tenuous at best and very fragile? Ever wonder why there was no real peace?

Christ had said, as read in the scriptures, that he did not come to this earth to make peace, but instead he brought the sword. (Matthew 10:34 – KJV – this scripture is the same in the JST -Joseph Smith Translation).

What application do the words of Christ have to our real life situations where peace between you and others is very diffucult or impossible?

LDS Hero - World War II?

In the past while, I came to have an interest to research some of this Church’s history in Germany during World War II, under the Nazi rule of Hitler. This is because a comment was made to me that the members of the Church in Germany were obedient to the government of that time, a comment made in an attempt to illustrate the “order of the Church”.

This comment struck an interest in me to find out as much as I can, the state of affairs in Nazi Germany, to see if any dilemma existed between obedience to the local government and laws and the doctrines of God. I found a good example.
