What Did God Say, When you Left the Church?

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I have read quite a few statements by ex-members who claim they have seen the light that this Church is false and they spent years believing in the wrong church. Reading their personal accounts I have found an alarming trait with all of them. None have claimed that God told them to leave, not one.

The beliefs that each of them held, to account for leaving the Church, have centered on some claim that the Church lied, or mistreated them, or that they claimed the Church is false after reading some book or article about some historic account that tainted the Church, etc etc. With that, they professed the Church was false.

Not one of their claims have originated from the Spirit of God, not one of their beliefs is spiritually based, not one is spiritually justified. Wouldn’t a spiritual basis be the foremost important reason for staying or leaving, knowing that it is only the spiritual that God works in and determines if a church is his?

Testimony of the Mormon Church and Against Evil Acts

Friday, February 13th, 2009

When I was approached by the LDS missionaries, I felt the Holy Ghost confirm that meeting was important. The Holy Ghost later confirmed that my membership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was good and true. At no time did I have any concern about any “alledged” immoral actions of other Mormons.  My attendance to this Church was led by the Spirit, not by personal judgements of other people.

Would I have joined another Church if…?

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

I am sure that there are some detractors of this LDS Church that would claim, after reading my blog articles and testimony, that if another church had pursued my membership with them instead of the Mormon missionaries, then I would have easily become a member of another church.

I say this to those who claim that, -humbug!

Here is why.

Testimony and Witness of the Gospels

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

I have read the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. I learned the importance of their content and what it means for my spiritual life with God. How I came to realize this was over time, through many experiences with the scriptures and in life.

I experienced positive changes when I properly studied the word of God. I have found that the key to gaining spiritual awareness, a heightened state of heart and mind, depends on whether I am sincere and humble when reading and studying the word of God. When I leave these books and stop reading them, the heightened change slowly diminishes and I begin to feel “less spiritual”. This showed me that a spiritual state, a “heightened state” (and peaceful) state of mind depends on my focus and involvement with the word of God. It showed me that things in this world are temporary and to maintain something, requires continued attention and diligence. It is just like staying fit, exercise must continue else the “fit state” diminishes.

You Need His Spirit

Have you ever felt despair, felt that nothing goes right and all seems gloomy? In this you may experience that there are no apparent answers, no way out, or that the down and out events just keep repeating themselves? Have you experienced constant disappointment, that no matter what you did, very little progressed and changed? Again this may have led to feelings and thoughts of despair?

In any of these states of mind and heart, have you been able to see clearly and see answers to your dilemma’s?

The Power of Example

Monday, February 25th, 2008

The prophet spoke of being a good example, the General Authorities spoke of the same thing. The power of example is a powerful influence to people. It touches their hearts and minds, something far more influential than material or flesh things. It is the same method that provides a person with power against evil and against corruption. It provides faith a conduit by which to proliferate. Example is that power which Jesus Christ and the Father use to express themselves. Example is what allows a person to be diligent, brave, determined, enduring, patient, tempered and all other good things of the spirit.

Issue with the Church? – Where is thy faith?

Friday, February 1st, 2008

One of the challenges of being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is whether a particular doctrine or practice is believable or acceptable. I have read and heard so many claims by ex-Mormons of how they were fooled or blinded to some of the doctrines or activities of the Church.

Some of the common complaints surround tithing, lack of answers to prayers, Adam-God Theory, Blacks previously refused the priesthood, men oriented church, and so on. When I looked at these claims or complaints and the stories behind them I see that they are just personal, which means that their issues are specific to them. For some things the Church has done, such as restrict Black men from the priesthood, are true, but making personal issue out of these things certainly does not gain the ear of the Lord neither does it gain any help or witness from the Holy Ghost. Why is this? It is because making personal issue is the act of contention which is the spirit of contention and such is not of God.
