The False Light, Appearing as if True

Friday, May 29th, 2009

Have you heard this cry? – “I have seen the truth!”, as many walk away and become advocates against this Church.

This is frequently heard and is in abundance in the claims made by ex-mormons on the Internet. Are these claims that they now see the truth, true? Can these ex-mormons be speaking the truth? I am sure for many current members this has been a kink in their spiritual armour, wondering if these claims are really true.

For those members who wonder this, please consider this.

Lie in Wait to Deceive

Lying in wait to deceive

How many times have I read this, not just from the Book of Mormon and from the Bible,

Ephesians 4: 14
That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

Can this happen to an average member of this Church, where some unknown person lies in wait to deceive, or is this something we read about that only happens to the most important members of God’s Church?

The slight of hand, the twist of a word and weave of a sentence or paragraph, made in the shadows of evil and personal mischievousness. The crooked smile reflecting thoughts of gain against a devote member of the famed Mormon Church. Lying in wait, ever ready to lie, cheat, deceive, malign and use any tool necessary to bring down a member of this Church.

Confusion with a touch of ignorance

Sunday, March 16th, 2008

The anti-Mormon’s and some ex-Mormons play a dangerous game. A trick used by them is to create confusion. Since none of them carry the truth about anything, they will work to inject confusion, because that is all that they have to entice, coerce, and convince members and potential members that this Church is false.

Wayward Ideas Create Confusion

confused again?

Over the years attending this Church, I have seen and heard some people volley strange ideas and precepts. Some I recognized were created by what the world calls “New Age” and others are simply a wild idea that got out of hand. I wondered why these people, who attend this Church which provides the doctrine of God, having prophets write and speak on many subjects, still run off with some wild ideas?

I saw that this is not an unusual thing. When this Church began with the prophet Joseph Smith, the same thing happened. People began to expound all sorts of unusual beliefs and doctrines that did not come from the Lord. Some, who did not have the authority from God, believed that they can receive revelation for the Church. This occurred in the early Christian Church as well, so this phenomenon is something that is expected.

When a person shares a true inspiration from the Lord, what he/she says carries the spirit of truth in it. Those that are open to this spirit will receive it with feelings and thoughts of, “Umm, never thought of it that way”, spurring contemplation or deeper thought. These pearls seem to be infrequent, but what is more prevalent are ideas and precepts that are way out of line.
