To Have Hope

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

The new YouTube channel named “Mormon Messages” is online. It has quality videos, excellent messages and teachings. It is good to see the Church is taking advantage of media sources as YouTube. Here is a presentation of hope, to have hope, to endure with hope, to live with hope. When listening to this message, it shows me that unless we have hope, faith will falter.

Hope is not just having a manner of faith that all will be OK in the face of despair, but hope applies to every part of life and faith. Hope is to have the intent that things will be fulfilled and I can see in this, that hope to receive spiritual guidance from the Holy Ghost is that very thing, or hope that you will receive a true spiritual testimony, or to receive further spiritual testimony and understanding of the gospel.

To some these things are easy, to others they need to make the effort, but when there is a loss of hope, a different kind of despair occurs and I will call it the faith of despair, which is despair in faith. Without hope a person will fall from faith and loose their connection with God. Sort of makes one wonder if that is what happened to members who left the Church?

Here is the video on hope from the Lord’s apostle Dieter F. Uchtdorf.

Fanfare Christians – Is This truly of Christ?

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

I was alerted to this video by a friend who received it by e-mail. I located it on YouTube entitled, “How would you introduce Christ to a room full of people???“. As I watched it, I found the timing of this interesting since I posted a blog article about this very thing – “ God’s Work, Always in Faith.  I spoke of how God does his work and anything he promotes will never be to appease or please the vanity of people, or even use such things to promote himself, his gospel, his salvation and be assured that any fanfare that appears in the name of Jesus Christ is not of him neither can it be for him.

This video portrayed the exact thing I was speaking about in the recent article about God’s work. I ask you to watch this video, it is a short one. The performance is by Steve Harvey, a actor and comedian who stood on stage to speak about Jesus Christ. Look at this video before you read on.

The Singing Anesthetists

Monday, December 28th, 2009

For a nice break, a little musical interlude. This group of anesthetists are really quite good.  Here is one of their musical numbers.

You can go directly to the YouTube page here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WOrjcLJ2IE0

They have a website, here is that link: http://www.laryngospasms.com/fr_index.cfm . They are called “The Laryngospasms”.

You really should to to their website. At the bottom of the web page is an audio player and their lyrics are really good, especially the “little old lady with a fractured femur”.

Enjoy.

Firm in the Fire – Mormon Versus Anti-Mormon

Sunday, July 12th, 2009

I was invited to a website called “S.P.A.M”, an acronym for the name of “Society For the Prevention of Anti-Mormonism“. It is an interesting site filled with articles, comments, membership and videos, the latter being the reason for the title of this post.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to peruse the Latter-day Saint video collection on YouTube (I prefer not to use the name “Mormon”), but once in a while I come across a good video or two that deserves attention. Just goes to show the abundance of good material and media on the web.

Firm in the Fire is a motivational video and was well done. Praise to its author – SethAdamSmith. Good to see the desire and inspired motivation this author has shown in his videos. Quality is always a good thing to produce.

For those who would like to view this video now, here is it just below. You can attend YouTube and view other videos by SethAdamSmith, or attend “S.P.A.M.” for a series of videos also.

“Mormons Made Simple” – Instructional WebSite

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

There is a new website that just opened up. It is also a “help” site of sorts for people who want to inquire about this Church of Christ and have a hard time reading scripture to understand it.

This website provides simple explanations in the format of animated videos. I viewed this site and I am impressed with the quality of the information and media. The combination of the visual and verbal provides the viewer a simple guide to our practices, beliefs and doctrines.

At this time the website owners upload their videos to YouTube and use that feed access for their website.

The website owners are in the process of constructing more instructional videos. Below is an example of one of their videos entitled, “The Book of Mormon”.

Men With Coats (Stage Act)

Thursday, January 8th, 2009

Usually I post serious posts, but if you noticed, that from time to time, I would include a humours image or video.

Humour is a good thing to have. I know that Jesus Christ displayed a good lightness. This, I believe, shows joy in life when well placed and exercised. In light (pun intended) of this personal philosphy, I had to post another humour video for you to see.

These two men in coats is one of the best shows I have seen. It can be found at Metacafe.com or Youtube. The video I show here is from YouTube (has better quality), as Metacafe had shorter cut versions.

These characters present a very good show. To view this completely, give it some time to load, it is about 12 megabytes. Click “read the rest…” just below to view that video and then get yourself a pop, popcorn, chips or the like. If you have a setup where you can view this video on your wide screen TV from the computer, lucky you. Enjoy.

Testimony of the “Mormon Church” – Glenn Beck (Video)

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

This person, Glenn Beck has been dubbed as an unlikely person to have turned to religion, let alone choosing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints! To listen to his example, where he was a hard talking man (means foul and mean, like someone else I know), shows how God’s truth can change a person’s life.

Yet, with all the hardness in his life, he chose this Church. An intelligent man, well informed of the things of the world and of course well informed of worldly affairs, which would include “religions”.

Flash Video (FLV format)

This is a short animated video that I received from a mormon friend. The maker of this animated video was SouthPark. You can locate the same video on line in many video upload sites. IT is known by the name “Final Exam” or “The Correct Answer”.

Here is the video. Click the play symbol to load video. Please be patient, it is about 2.0 mb in size. With most DSL and Cable connections this will be a fast load. If the video loaded poorly, clear your cache of your browser and reload again.

Click the “continued reading” link below to view the video on the screen.

President J.F. Kennedy Speaks About Mormons

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

Flash Video (FLV format)

This was found on YouTube and I have a copy of that video here. It is a famous and well respected president of the United States, John F. Kennedy, who spoke highly of the Latterday Saints. That address was recorded and is available for all to hear.

The video here is a Windows Media format, and it will need to load before it plays. It is about 2.8 mb. It is a fast download for cable and DSL. The video page will operate in IE 6, 7 and 8 Beta, as well as Firefox, Opera and Safari. In the event the video viewer does not load here, the link for this YouTube segment is:

Be aware that at YouTube, many Anti-Mormon videos will appear after viewing this segment. It is the way YouTube sets up their pages and video feeds.
