The LDS Church has been active in practicing and promoting good relations between the itself and other Christian denominations. Is this because they want to parlay a good image? Nay, it is the principle of God to be of good service, kind and respectful to others, but in these last days, where God warned us of dark times to come before his Son and our Saviour Jesus Christ returns, is it of value to expect the practice of good relations to continue?
To a certain extent, yes, we must always do good and right, that is the mainstay, yet what else is to occur? As God promised, it is a division. This is the drawing of a spiritual line between the faithful who shall continue with God and the unfaithful, those who are not with God. This division is the removal of the wheat from the tares, which I believe, has already begun.
The first step was God’s restoration of his true Church. The restored gospel is the first tool God uses to divide the wheat from the tares among the gentiles. Those who cannot bear the restored gospel will avoid the Lord’s true Church, we see these as the Anti-Mormons and the fearful of the world. Those who are able to tarry a time with the restored gospel will join the Lord’s Church only to find they cannot bear long and will leave. Those who tarry long with the gospel will remain with the Lord’s Church until the final sifting, which comes by spiritual trial and the last of the unwilling will leave. The remainder will be the true faithful to God. (see D&C 86:1–11 / D&C 85:7)
The division will first occur within the Lord’s Church, then this division will span out to the world and on this I wish to comment.
In the world, there are many other Christians who have attacked us, degraded us, tried to derail us and deter us, but this is not the mark of the division. What will show as a mark of division will be something like this, this the Lord’s Church drawing the line in the sand between itself, as the Lord’s true Church and gospel, against the world and it’s mother of all worldly churches.
Who would be the mother of all worldly churches?
I will be bold in saying this, it is the Catholic church and when I view this I see the Catholic leadership standing face to face against the LDS Leadership and sadness will befall us, because our leadership will recognize the darkness it sees in the face of the Catholic and the friendship will begin to end.
All other Christian churches will fall under this one true church of the world (Notice I said true church of the world, not the true Church of God). Is it any wonder that it was the early Catholic church that quickly (from an eternal time perspective) replaced the Lord’s true Church as found in the New Testament? Is it any wonder, when looking at the New Testament and the Church of Christ within it, that it does not fit the image and doctrines of the Catholic church? How the New Testament Church of Christ seems to be somewhat “surreal” as opposed to the Catholic church so earthly, real and tangible? This is one reason why I have remained with the LDS Church, because when comparing the Early Church of Christ in the New Testament to this LDS Church, they are a match.
Essentially, a divsion line will appear and this will be marked by counsel and instruction from the First Presendentacy and this instruction will be a departure from what was done in the past.
Will this LDS Church begin the division by drawing the line? I do not believe so. What I believe is that it will be the Catholic church to begin the division when it finds itself having to join with the world to survive because the Lord himself is not supporting it. As with anything made of man, it cannot last, as any worldly empire has shown by its fall and demise. It will seek the world of men for it’s support, where the Lord’s Church seeks the Lord for support. This is to say, that the Catholic church will give the appearance of standing in the Lord, but as it quietly and secretively seeks an alliance with the world to survive.
Why is this?
The Catholic church will be privy to what is to come, as planned by the world of men. At it’s first opportunity, it will aline with the world with the intent to survive and this is where any friendship or any association with this LDS Church will crumble.
Why would the Catholic church not go to the Lord?
It is because it has the mind of the natural man and the natural man will do what is natural to it, seek allegiance with those of the same nature. Is this not true in the world of people who group themselves according to a common nature? As Lord described it, “kindred spirits”?
It requires a spiritual mind to seek the Lord and stand in him and this will also be a mark of the division, between the carnal mind of men and the spiritual mind of the faithful. This has to happen, it is the sifting of the wheat from the chaff.
When all this occurs, the LDS Church will say to the effect, pray and have faith in the Father and in the Son, the Catholic church will say, pray to Jesus Christ, but…(whispering) we have friends (James 4:4)
As this occurs, it will be noticeable and those who favour the Catholic church will defend it and claim what it does qualifies itself as the church of God, thereby again, ignoring the truth as foretold and taught in the scriptures. Any display and act of Hypocrisy is the trait of the beast.
This may just draw the weaker in faith out from this true Church of God, but fear not, the faithful will stand fast as this division makes progress.
A division will come and it is important to prepare. The first place to strengthen is your faith, to study, seek the Lord for greater faith and understanding and most of all, remain steadfast.
A divison must occur and we must be ready.
Blessings.
