Good & Right Things Ignored

I received an email from Google, at least I believe it was from them, about the class action lawsuit against Google by Gmail. The lawsuit was filed by Gmail users who claim that when Google launched their Google Buzz network, Google automatically included and exposed data and contacts of Gmail users to the public. According to the lawsuit, Gmail users accused Google of violating many of the U.S. and California electronic data usage and storage laws as well as other laws pertaining to fair business actions and professional codes. Google denied the allegations. It took many months before Google and the plaintiffs achieved a settlement. You can read this on the “Google Buzz User Privacy Blog” . The settlement appears to apply only to U.S. citizens. You can read more about it on the FAQ page.

What does this have to do with my blog here?

Nothing directly, but the manner and process by which people had to get their privacy rights respected is the point of topic here and with that comes the principles of God about “rights” and responsibility to do the right thing at all times. Basically I am addressing Christian concerns.

All people have the right to privacy, right not to be harassed or violated, right for respect and fair treatment.

It is sad to see that people have to sue others or take legal action against others for breaches of privacy or for breaches of their rights. I have seen this all over the Internet, people posting personal information about others without legal right and other places as Google allowing the violation of privacy or violation of rights to occur on their services doing nothing about it.

What this brings me to say is there is a widespread disrespect and disregard for what is right and proper and this is rampant in the world and on the Internet. Some call it freedom speech, but when a freedom causes infringement on others or harm to others, it is no longer a freedom, but a flagrant violation. God would have nothing to do with people who act in this manner toward others. It is contrary to the economy of God and his Kingdom to allow such behavior to exist. Such flagrant disregard for others is clearly unrighteous, evil and purely selfish and prideful. All aspects of a damned personage.

The world condones it and even promotes it. Many Christians exercise this flagrant disregard and whoever does this in their life and fails to repent, will not enter the Kingdom of God. They can remain in one of the many mansions God provides for the less faithful and less righteous.

It is sad to see that people, whether at Google or anywhere cannot act with proper respect for others and maintain and uphold the basic principles of human rights. To act properly on their own accord without having to be taken to law on the matter for resolution.

Granted, on the matter of Google and their settlement, it is claimed the settlement does not confirm wrong doing or guilt, but is a matter of agreement to resolve concerns. This is a legal stand. In truth, Google had erred and should have resolved the matter forthwith at the onset when the error was first brought to their attention. That would have lessened any damages done that was caused by any delayed corrective action. Then maybe Google would not have needed to provide over eight million to legal costs and damages and support.

Usually, the tactic is “do nothing and say nothing until something is filed in court”. This premise breeds further violation because corrective action is purposely avoided. It seems the “law” has allowed and has acted against all principles of righteousness. How corrupt the world has become, where immediate righteous correction holds no value to the benefit of the repentant person(s) and becomes a means to penalize someone.

What God holds to us is responsibility. People will avoid it, avert it, circumvent it, ignore it, violate it, even avoid speaking about it, not hear of it or refuse to see it, but God will hold each person to each and every thing they are responsible to. A true Christian is one that repents at all times and allows God to bring to him/her their errors and wrongs to correct. No person is knowing of all principles of God and how they work and apply. That is why we need God to allow him to bring us to each principle, line by line, to teach us, improve us and correct us. The atonement does not remove our responsbility to the wrongs we have done. The atonment allows us the freedom to resolve matters and correct ourselves without suffering the full penalty of justice. That is the payment made by Jesus Christ. He paid what we can never pay and what we do pay is what we are able to do, that is repentance. That is our part spoken of by Nephi (2 Nephi 25:23) saying , “we know that it is by grace that we are saved, after all we can do“. The grace is the atonement and the “after all we can do” is repentance, obedience and faith.

Will the world follow suit, at least with the principle of doing good and right at all times? I do not believe so and because of this failure, people as those in Google and others will find themselves in court a lot because of the disregard for the basic principles of human rights. Yet, any court judgments are not God’s judgements, in that God will still judge each person for their disregard for others. A worldly judge works from the law of the land and the law of the land has no power to make people repent. God works from divine laws and it is God’s laws that will prevail.

People, even other Christians may believe that once a civil court decides, their repentance is not needed and this is sorely false. Their repentance is required and only God decides when that is finished. Any disregard to people’s rights will be addressed soon enough and any person who is accountable for ignoring their responsibility to respect those rights will answer to God on the matter, sure enough.

Until then, lawsuits as this one against Google will be commonplace.
