Spiritual integrity is a very important principle that Jesus Christ taught. The freedom given by truth is proof that lies are a sin and create bondage. Truth is what allows us to be truly free, allowing us to progress in life and be at peace with ourselves and with others. Peace and love cannot exist in lies and lies cannot make or sustain peace.
This is exactly what Satan wants to do with each of us, promote and propagate lies so we can be blindly or knowingly locked into the bondage of sin. This is one reason that the Father wanted us to become as gods, to know the difference between good and evil. Progression, personal and spiritual development, can only occur with truth, it can never occur with lies.
Truth is the seed, food and nurturing of growth; lies are the poison and deterrent to growth. Ever wonder why Satan’s angels are now called demons, appearing distorted and maligned? That is what lies and deceit causes, because they become what they worship and follow.
Today, with the increase of evil in the world and with the prophecy from God that things will get really bad (see the Book of Revelations), makes it more imperative that we, as God’s faithful, choose to find any lies that we accepted and live in our lives.
Any lie from the small white lie, to foolish superstition, misunderstandings, misinterpretations, “honest mistakes”, to grandiose lies that anyone of us may continue to perpetuate in our personal lives. We find these things by personal reflection and mediation, to see what we can see. We also find them by prayer to God who will help us find them within us and remove them with our involvement (this is what the scriptures call chastening and affliction).
Wonder why I am writing on this topic?
Think about it. The world is corrupt, it teaches false doctrines and beliefs, it advocates evil, sustains it and even promotes it. This coupled with the early apostasy of the early Christian Church (New Testament), all of us were subjugated to the endless string of lies, especially if we are converts.
When I speak of finding every lie and eliminating it, I specifically refer to our personal life. I do not mean to seek it out in others or in the world.
It is important that we each remove what “lies” within our own lives, because each one is a vexation to our spirits, faith and spiritual growth. Lies can actually prevent or stop us from learning God’s truth within his gospel and by the Holy Spirit.
Ever wonder why other Christians are unable to see the truth of God’s gospel, even when it stares them in the face? IT is because they have accepted lies (or falsehoods), which is why the Father called their creeds (beliefs and theologies) an abomination to him. They cannot have the Spirit because of the lies that keeps them away from the Spirit of God, and be assured, as a result, the light of Christ has diminished in them because of those lies. For truth and lies cannot co-exist in the same place.
Perfection that God advocates holds no lies, not one particle of a lie. Our work here in spiritual probation is to “work out our salvation”, to “bear our own cross” and “clean ourselves within”. All of this is in the Bible. Not one tittle of a lie is to go unturned.
Satan will surely see that you are working on yourself and as you progress, he will surely do his best to halt your work, corrupt it and even twist it out of shape. One of the usual ways he does this is to cause others who abide in lies to come at you in some way. To cause you to loose control, to hate as well, to spue anger and discontentment.
To perpetuate anything in you, that is within his reach to sustain or recreate new lies within you. In all, to control you, manipulate you, to spur evil within your life so you would accept it willingly or blindly. Thus any person who confronts you or from behind your back that promotes evil in any degree or form, is a potential agent for Satan.
The best way to deal and face these adversaries is to stand in truth. I do not refer to personal truths, such as liking something that is relative to you, but eternal truths, principles of goodness and righteousness as taught by God. By standing in eternal truths and principles, no person will need to assert their personal characteristics to defend themselves, because eternal truths and principles are all encompassing. As Jesus had no need to prove himself to his adversaries, neither do we.
Such eternal truths as patience, proper spiritual discernment, faith and other aspects of a good spirit. Remember, pride is not one of these truths, so put aside personal pride and do what is right. By maintaining spiritual integrity in your own life, you will continue to remain subject of the Spirit.
Amen.
