Book of Mormon - 1854 Edition

The Book of Mormon, edition 1854, written by Joseph Smith is available as a free download from Google Books. The download is in a PDF format (Adobe Acrobat Reader required).

To see this book listed by Google, go here >> The Book of Mormon 1854

You can search Google Books yourself with these key words (includes quotations) – “The Book of Mormon” 1854

There will be two books listed, with the same edition date. Either one is fine. The book exists at two separate libraries.

Click the one you want and it opens in a viewing window. You can search the book by key words while online with Google Books or download it completely as a PDF file (23 mb).  The only downside to your own copy is that the PDF version you download cannot be searched. The pages are images and not a regular PDF searchable file. The only option is to find software that can convert the images into text form.

Principle of Marriage is Broken

The problems caused by gay-marriage advocates versus traditional marriage advocates seems to be getting worst. Not long ago I wrote an entry here on this blog entitled, “Will the Church Work Against the Law?“. It was a concern of what the LDS Church will do if faced with an “either / or” situation to marry gay persons or face prosecution or a penalty. From what I find is that this “damned if you do or damned if you don’t” situation has already hit others in the world and in some cases, cost those who refused to marry gay person’s a pretty penny.

There is a website called, “United Families International“ who keep track of many news worthy items pertaining to the attacks on traditional marriage which includes gay marriage. In particular, one of their e-mail news releases read as follows,

LDS Hero - World War II?

In the past while, I came to have an interest to research some of this Church’s history in Germany during World War II, under the Nazi rule of Hitler. On May 16, 2008, the California Supreme Court decided that same-sex marriages are legal and constitutional. That was a sad day for the Church to see that the law of the land has moved in favour of sin, as the doctrine of this Church clearly stands against it. The question that has come to my mind is “will the Church work against the law if the law says it must obey it?”.

The fight for the divine order of marriage is not over yet. Proposition 8 was just passed in California banning same-sex marriages which now establishes a new law contrary to the California Supreme Court decision. Is this now over, will this see-saw battle over homosexual marriages now end? – I do not think so.

How many people complain about how this person did this or that, or how they should have done something differently? How many complained about the prophet or any of the General Authority?

When reading the scriptures, what pattern exists between God and his prophet(s)?
