Over the past few years, tattoos have gain popularity in the world. We see shows about tattoo artists, movies idolizing a tattooed hero or heroine. We see celebrities getting tattoos and others being galmourized as Angele Jolie. We see Ad’s using tattooed models as part of the advertising campaign. This is a general idea of what is occurring in the media.
What about locally? Seeing the popularity of tattoos in small towns, guaranteed it exists in the bigger centers. So why is this happening when we consider the predictions God made about these latter-days?
What I have noticed in life was that life will present cues to things that are coming. Such as increased earthquakes, which also can create Tsunami waves, cued up for years until a huge Tsunami wave hit the coasts of Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, and Thailand in 2004. (Wikpedia entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_Indian_Ocean_earthquake ) No one was “prepared” for this disaster because no one really paid attention.
This cueing is interesting such that life on earth is God’s creation and as such is also spiritual. Manifesations into the physical does not denounce or deny that the spiritual comes first then the temporal. This is God’s law and life here abides in that law.
Looking at the increase of interest and popularity of tattoos, it makes me wonder that this “may” be a cue for the mark of the beast as predicted in Revelation 14, 16, 19. Consider this, the “mark of the beast” is akin to a “tattoo”. Life on this earth cues up things, evil or good, to warn us what is coming. Simply consider the increase of movies and shows that depict a dark and horride world, full of evil and sin. Movies and shows about magic, casting out evil spirits (ie: the TV show: Supernatural ), etc. The Lord, Jesus Christ is absent from these shows and people in these shows seek alianaces with evil to fight evil. Does this not cue for us the falling of the world into darkness before the coming of the Lord and fit within the parameters of God’s predictions of the latter-days?
Tattoos may be just that cue for us to see that the “mark of the beast” is making it’s due. Dividing the wicked from the truly faithful. A warning given by life, emulated by the world, for those who can “notice” and take heed. As with all things of the flesh, and tattoos are of the flesh, we need to be warned and take heed.
For members who already had tattoos when they joined the Church, I believe that so long as you do not promote tattoos and not get any more, remain faithful, this fleshy mark is just that, fleshy and bears nothing of the beast on you, because that is what the Atonement is all about. But…
If you did not have a tattoo and seek one, consider that you are defiling your body which is suppose to be a temple for the Spirit of God and nothing of the flesh (wickedness) is allowed in or on God’s temple.
This does not mean we condemn others who have tattoos, heavens no, we act respectfully to them, but in light of any person’s defense and interest in tattoos, we must not support it or give credit or appeal to it in any way. To mark the body as this if you are intent on being faithful, is a mark against you, spiritually speaking. The Church may not say much, but God has a lot to say about it.
Tattoos, the forerunner to the mark of the beast. Something to ponder.
