Welcome to Mormon Direction

As of this post date, this weblog is a new blog on the Internet. Its expressive purpose is to provide assistance to those who are in need of help or a nudge during their trials and tribulations. The intent of this web-blog is to provide help that will hopefully provide encouragement, understanding and direction, with insights, experience and knowledge for a spiritual path as a disciple of Christ and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The difference between this and other regular articles written by Church leaders and the learned members of the Church, is the personal aspect and focus of this web-log. The Lord counseled us to help and edify each other with any and all knowledge and experience gained through an individual relationship with the Father, the Son and Saviour Jesus Christ and the comforter, the Holy Ghost.

This personal aspect is focused to provide others, who struggle with their personal spiritual path, some light and understanding to succeed the challenges of faith. These challenges of faith always occur as a challenge within the personal context of our lives. This is how God challenges each of us so uniquely and personally showing his power of seeing our mind and heart.

My hope is to provide encouragement and understanding, to create that chance for you and others to say, “Hey I have been there myself and know that!”, while at the same time help make that needed connection with gospel principles. What I speak of here is the understanding of personal hardships, trials and tribulations and why they must exist. To help others gain faith through the afflictions we must endure, just as the scriptures teach us and by that experience, great understanding and depth of understanding can occur.

It can be hard to understand these hardships and tests within our personal lives and hard to see that these personal afflictions given to us by the Lord are part of his work. It is so easy to take the daily hassles of life, troubles, hardships, ups and downs and challenges to our lives as an annoyance or something we can do without. It is hard to see that a hassle with a fellow member or Church leader is exactly that test of faith or a challenge that God has given to you. It is hard to accept such mundane hassles and problems that seem to persist and repeat as part of our affliction and tribulation promised by God within the scriptures, yet these are tests and challenges to develop our faith and good spiritual attributes.

Many have felt and thought that these personal daily hassles and issues are separate from gospel living or that they are a test of whether a Church is false or of God. Yet in truth, the meshing of gospel doctrines with a personal life style is a challenge that God bestows upon us, a challenge that is not impossible to overcome and such are not necessarily tests of whether the Church is of God or not, but whether you are.

I created this web-blob to provide assistance to others because that is what I can do. I have not found one place on the web that offers this same help and as a result I felt it time to provide it myself. I hope that I can provide to each of you at least a glimmer of hope and understanding in times of personal darkness. A flicker of light to assist you to take the correct direction as you feel the stumble on your way through.

I pray that what I have to offer, serves you well.

Mark

    Dear LDS Blogger,

I am with LDS News Source, we are a company that has just launched an online news portal for the members of the LDS Church. As of this message our site searches over 5000 newspapers worldwide every hour on the hour and compiles any and all articles that pertain to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints into one place, it also translates that news into 24 languages. Our goal in building this was to create a place where members and non-members alike can go and find out what is happening with the church and its members world wide. It is also our answer to Elder M. Russell Ballard’s speech at the BYU Hawaii Commencement Exercises last year where he said:

“may I ask that you join the conversation by participating on the Internet, particularly the New Media, to share the gospel and to explain in simple, clear terms the message of the Restoration. Most of you already know that if you have access to the Internet you can start a blog in minutes and begin sharing what you know to be true. You can download videos from Church and other appropriate sites, including Newsroom at LDS.org, and send them to your friends. You can write to media sites on the Internet that report on the Church, and voice your views as to the accuracy of the reports. This, of course, requires that you, all members of the Church, understand the basic, fundamental principles of the gospel.

We are living in a world saturated with all kinds of voices. Perhaps now, more than ever, we have a major responsibility as Latter-day Saints to define ourselves, instead of letting others define us. Far too many people have a poor understanding of the Church because most of the information they hear about us is from news media reports that are often driven by controversies. Too much attention to controversy has a negative impact on peoples’ perceptions of what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints really is. ”

Last week we launched the site and we would love to know what you think about it. As an LDS Blogger we were hoping that you would be willing to write about our new site and share your thoughts with your readers. We would also like to invite you to do a banner exchange with us if you are interested. We have created a section of the site to display a list of all of the LDS Blogs, you can sign up yourself by going to this link:
